Messier 46, also known as NGC 2437 is the Open cluster in the constellation of Puppis. The planetary nebula NGC 2438 appears to lie within the cluster, but is most likely unrelated. This cluster lie at a distance of 4900 Light Years from us. Open clusters are a group of few 1000 stars that were formed from the same molecular cloud or nebula. Planetary Nebulae are the ageing stars into their final stages of evolution. Our Sun will also go into this stage some 5 Billion years from now.
