Rann and Stars: An evening under the dark skies of Gujarat
Where the edge of the Little Rann of Kutch meets the infinite Universe
Far from the glare of city lights, at a location on the edge of the Little Rann of Kutch, lies the setting for an extraordinary journey into astronomy.
The vast open landscape, distant horizons and dark skies create a remarkable environment to step away from the familiar and experience the Universe in an entirely different way.
Rann & Stars, hosted by Wondrous Heaven in collaboration with Little Rann Homestay, is an immersive astronomy experience bringing together powerful telescopes, India’s first life-sized Solar System scale model, astrophotography and a rare opportunity for specialised solar observation.
You don’t need to be an astronomer to enjoy Rann & Stars. There is no age barrier — only a sense of curiosity. Whether you’re introducing a child to the wonders of the night sky, spending an unforgettable evening with friends, or simply looking at the Universe with fresh eyes, Rann & Stars has something to offer.
This is not simply an evening of looking at stars.
It is an experience designed to make you see the Universe differently.
WALK THROUGH THE SOLAR SYSTEM

India’s First Life-Sized Solar System Scale Model
We have all seen the Solar System in books, diagrams and photographs.
But you have probably never walked through one.
At Rann & Stars, experience India’s first life-sized scale model of the Solar System — an installation that transforms the enormous distances between the planets into something you can physically experience.
Begin your journey at the Sun and walk outward towards Neptune, experiencing the relative distances between our planetary neighbours on a scale you can actually feel. What looks compact in a textbook suddenly reveals its true nature: The Solar System is mostly empty space.
Walking through it beneath a real night sky makes that understanding even more powerful. Don’t just learn about the Solar System. Walk through it.
MEET THE GIANT
A 14-Inch Dobsonian Weighing Over 100 Kg
Then, look beyond our Solar System.
Standing before you is a massive 14-inch Dobsonian telescope weighing more than 100 kilograms.
Its sheer size is extraordinary — but what it allows you to see is even more remarkable.
With its large aperture gathering enormous amounts of faint light, this giant telescope opens the door to the deep sky.
Look through the eyepiece and explore star clusters, nebulae and distant galaxies, while astronomers guide you through the objects you’re observing and the stories behind them.

A faint smudge in the eyepiece can be a galaxy millions of light-years away. For a moment, the immense scale of the telescope in front of you meets the even greater scale of the Universe beyond it. 100+ kilograms of telescope.Millions of light-years of Universe.
CAPTURE THE COSMOS

When Your Eyes Aren’t Enough
Some wonders of the Universe are too faint to fully appreciate with the naked eye.
Through smart-telescope astrophotography, explore another dimension of the night sky as technology reveals the intricate details hidden within distant celestial objects.
Watch nebulae and galaxies emerge from the darkness and discover how modern astronomy allows us to capture light that has travelled across the cosmos to reach us.
See it. Explore it. Capture it.
MEET OUR STAR
A Rare H-Alpha Solar Telescope Experience.
The Universe doesn’t disappear when the night ends.
As morning arrives, turn your attention to the star at the centre of our own Solar System — the Sun.
Rann & Stars offers a particularly rare astronomical experience: observing the Sun through a specialised H-alpha solar telescope.
Dedicated H-alpha solar telescopes are rarely encountered at public astronomy events, making this an unusual opportunity to observe our nearest star through specialised solar equipment.

The Sun, something we see every day, takes on an entirely different character when viewed through the right instrument. At night, explore galaxies millions of light-years away. In the morning, observe the star that is just 8 light-minutes away.
A NIGHT BENEATH THE UNIVERSE

The location itself is an important part of the experience.
At the edge of the Little Rann, the open landscape and distant horizon provide a remarkable setting to escape the glow of urban skies.
There are no walls around your observatory.
No ceiling above your head.
Just the open night and the stars stretching across it.
After spending the night exploring the cosmos, settle down beneath that same sky and experience the quiet of the surroundings.
Tonight, the sky isn’t something you look at from a building.
It is all around you.
THE RANN BY DAY
When darkness gives way to dawn, the landscape reveals another side of itself.
The Little Rann of Kutch is a unique ecosystem, known for its vast salt plains and as the habitat of the Asian Wild Ass, locally known as the Gudkhar.
The morning brings an opportunity to experience this remarkable landscape, encounter the Gudkhar and migratory birds, and discover the traditional relationship between local communities and the Rann, including its age-old salt-making heritage.

At night, your attention is drawn upwards to distant worlds. By morning, it returns to the landscape around you.
ONE NIGHT. AN ENTIRE UNIVERSE TO DISCOVER.
Add to that a night beneath the stars and the unique landscape, wildlife and heritage of the Little Rann, and you have an experience that goes far beyond conventional stargazing. Come curious. Leave with a deeper sense of how vast, beautiful and extraordinary our Universe really is.
